Taft College Men's Golf Kicks Off 2017 Season

For the first time in over 20 years, Taft College men's golf returned to competition. The TC squad, led by Head Coach Chad Sorensen and Assistant Coach Tony Thompson, played in the Point Conception Open at La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc CA. The tournament took place on January 29 & 30, with 36 holes of play.

 

Vance Millwee, a 2016 graduate from Liberty High School posted rounds of 80 and 79 to lead the Cougars. 2016 Stockdale High graduate Blake Bourelle, shot 84 on Sunday and 81 on Monday. Tanner Leikam fired rounds of 84 and 89. Leikam is the only local player on the TC men's golf team, graduating from Taft Union High School in 2015. Rounding out the event were scores of 104 and 100 from Hayden DeFreece. The Taft College men's golf team will be back in action on Monday, February 6 at the Stanford Invitational hosted by Chabot College.
