TAFT, CA – In conference play, the Taft College Cougars (18-15) played College of the Sequoias (16-18). COS jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Taft responded by scoring 8 runs in the bottom half of the inning. The entire lineup contributed to the barrage, but some notables include a Yadriel Reyes bases clearing triple, a Jesus Gonzalez RBI double, and a Dawson George RBI single.

The game remained at a stalemate until the fifth inning when Taft added 2 more runs to further their lead 10-1. Taft added 4 in the seventh to put the game out of reach for the COS Giants. A little push back in the eighth saw COS hit a three-run homerun and drive in one more to make the score 14-5, but with another run for the Cougars in the bottom of the eighth, the game ended 15-5. Taft pitcher Jacob Canuel held down the fort going 7 and 2/3 innings pitched striking out three and giving up 5 runs.

The Cougars are still amidst a playoff push sitting one game out of first place with an overall record of 19-15 and a conference record of 13-7.
