On Valentine's Day, the Baseball team had a great home victory. Special guest Billy White, Taft College Board of Trustees President, had the opportunity to throw out the first pitch. It was very memorable for the team and we thank him for all of his hard work here at Taft College.

Joey Loubert started off the game pitching a total of 4.6 innings only allowing 5 hits out of the 26 batters faced. The Cougars had a slow start to the game until scoring in the bottom of the 5th when Chad Berry struck the ball out to center field which allowed Sebastian Cabeza to run home, this put the team on the scoreboard with a score down by one run. Casey Henderson, Alex Camorlinga, Keigo Wajima, Eric Godinez, and Kaleb Hay had pitched throughout the rest of the game and only allowed two more runs to make the Cougars down 4-1.

In the bottom of the 8th with bases loaded on a 2 out/2 strike count, sophomore Izzy Halton hit a grand slam bringing in Nate Gutierrez, Roman Roberts, and Tyler Vanneste. The Cougars ended with a 5-4 win against the Bakersfield Renegades.

Congratulations to the Baseball team, they will face Cerro Coso College on Thursday at home and will be on the road this Saturday to compete against Mount San Jacinto.
