Cougars earn three All-CVC postseason baseball awards

Following the close of the 2022 Taft College baseball season, three members of the Cougars were honored with All-Central Valley Conference postseason accolades.

Freshman outfielder Jordan Phillips was a first-team All-CVC selection while freshmen Tayler Vanneste (Infield) and Blake Logan (Pitcher) earned second team honors.

Phillips had an impressive first season offensively for the Cougars. He led TC with 40 hits, 53 runs, 16 doubles, 2 triples, 7 home runs, 36 RBI, 25 walks, and 14 stolen bases. He hits .327 on the year with a .420 on base percentage and .580 slugging percentage.

His 16 doubles ranked second in the CVC, while his 7 home runs tied for fourth-best in the conference and his 14 steals also were fourth.

Vanneste hit a team-best .345 on the season with 50 hits, 24 runs, 13 doubles, 3 home runs, and 24 RBI. Logan appeared in 11 games on the mound for Taft, compiling a 3-2 record with 2 saves. He ended with a 2.23 earned run average with 30 strike outs over 36 1/3 innings.

Taft wrapped up the 2022 season with a 16-24 overall record and finished fifth in the final Central Valley Conference standings at 10-14.
