Former Taft College baseball standout Greyson Barrett was recently named first-team All-Sooner Athletic Conference after an impressive debut season for Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas.
Barrett started all 41 games for the NAIA-level Texas Wesleyan Rams, playing primarily at first base. He led the Rams with 14 home runs and 55 RBI while collecting 52 hits on his way to a .333 batting average. On March 26 at Mid-American Christian University, he went 4 for 6 at the plate with a game-high 6 RBI, hitting a grand slam that lifted the Rams over the Evangels.
Barrett was one of eight all-conference selections for a Texas Wesleyan squad that compiled a 27-16 overall record. The Rams finished third in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 15-6 mark.
Originally out of Centennial High School in Bakersfield, Barrett played two years for Taft (2019-20) and was off to an impressive start in 2020 before the season was cut short because of COVID-19. Over 21 games, Barrett batted .368 with 25 hits, 4 home runs, and 17 RBI.
