Taft blanked in loss to Feather River

Taft College starting pitcher Greyson Barrett allowed two earned runs over five innings, but the Cougars totaled just six hits and committed three errors in a 10-0 loss to Feather River College on Saturday in a game played at Bakersfield's Collis Field.

Taft returns to Collis Field on Sunday (Jan. 26) in search of its first win facing host Bakersfield College at 2 p.m.

After pitching three scoreless innings, Barrett stumbled into trouble in the fourth. Consecutive doubles and a two-run single to open the frame by Feather River quickly gave the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead. In the fifth, a two-out error led to three unearned runs. Feather River added five more runs in the sixth to close out the scoring.

Barrett did all he could to help his own cause. He went 2 for 2 at the plate and stole a base but was left stranded.

Ben Boelter pitched well in relief, tossing 3 2/3 scoreless innings to close out the game for the Cougars.
