Sophomore righty Kaivon Kealoha started for the Cougars on Saturday and threw 6 shutout innings allowing 6 hits with no walks, and 11 strikeouts.
3rd baseman, Jayce Gardner went 2-for-4 with a 2 run homer and a single to lead the Cougars offensively. Zach Jones hit a pair of sacrifice flies. Wesley Hebert hammered a triple to deep right center field for an RBI. Jade Smoot also hit a triple and scored a run.
The Cougars are now 12-10 overall, and 3-3 in CVC play.
Next week Taft will play a three game series against CVC rival, Fresno (13-9, 3-3) starting on Tuesday, March 20 at Fresno City College. The first pitch is at 3:00 p.
