The Taft Cougars traveled to Reedley for their first Central Valley Conference 3-game series and took a tough 7-1 loss. Kaivon Kealoha started on the bump for Taft allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and 4 strikeouts in 5 innings of work to take his first loss of the season.
Wesley Hebert led off the game with a solo homerun and that was all Taft College was able to score. Hebert and Zach Jones went 2-for-4.
Emilio Velez pitched 2 perfect innings of relief for Taft.
Game two of the three game set will be played on Thursday March 8, at Cougar field.
