The Taft Cougars traveled out to Wilmington for game one of a three game set against LA Harbor College. Micah McCulley started on the bump and tossed 3 innings, allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. Four additional pitchers came out of the bullpen to eat up the remaining innings.
The big story for this game was the Cougar bats. Taft put up 15 runs on 13 hits and 6 walks. Javier Ramirez, Wesley Hebert, Jade Smoot, Noah Sirkel, and Dom Tating each had 2 hit performances. Tating had a bases clearing double in the sixth inning to break the game open. Sirkel and Hebert also collected a pair of RBI's. Alec Olsen and Zach Jones both had 1 hit.
The Cougars will host game two of the series on Saturday, February 17 at 1:00 pm.
