L 5-2

Cougar Field was the site of a well-played series finale between Taft College, and the Rams of Fresno City. Fresno's third baseman, Sal Esparza hit a grand slam in the top of the third inning to put the Rams up 4, and that was the pivotal scoring part of the entire game.

Chase Nistor was the Cougar Starter on the bump. He tossed 5 innings and allowed 4 runs, 2 of which were earned. Rams starter Kobe Portillo pitched a complete game, allowing 2 runs on a 1 run single by Richard Ortiz in the first, and a 1 run double by Kyle Gaura in the third.

Ortiz led the way for the Cougars offensively with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate. Four other Cougars collected hits.

The Taft College Baseball team will travel south to Los Angeles to square off against Compton, Ventura, and Moorpark over the spring break. Conference play resumes on Wednesday April 19 at West Hills College of Coalinga.
