The Rams, of Fresno City College travelled to Taft California for an epic opening of the three game conference series. On the mound for the Cougars, Will Moore shoved 6 dominant innings and allowed just 1 run on 1 hit. Fresno rolled over at the plate against Moore as 7 of them went down on punch outs.
Seth Sorensen came out of the bullpen and threw innings 7 and 8. Sorensen allowed no runs, on one hit and 2 strikeouts.
Offensively, The Cougars scored 9 runs, on 12 hits with 2 doubles. Travis Turner led the way going 3-for-5 at the plate. Turner collected 3 singles, 1 RBI, and scored 1 run. Brendan Halstrom collected a double and a single in 3 plate appearances with an RBI. Kyle Guara collected 3 RBI's with a 1-for-2 performance at the plate. Gaura got hit by a pitch with bases loaded to bring in a run, grounded out for 1 run and push bunted for a single, bringing in Halstrom from third base.
Luke Lubiniecki and Nick Kawano each collected 2 hits apiece and scored 1 run.
Fresno made the game interesting in the ninth inning, scoring seven runs on 3 total home runs, Tyson canfield came in the game with a 1 run lead and 1 out in the ninth to collect his first save of the season.
The Cougars of Taft College will travel to Fresno City on Thursday for game two of the series. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
