The Taft College Cougars traveled to Ridgecrest on Saturday to square off for the third and final time against the Coyotes of Cerro Coso College. The home team struck early, in the bottom of the first inning for 4 runs, and the rest of the game steam rolled. Cerro Coso scored 3 in the second, 3 in the third, 1 in the fourth, 4 in the fifth, 3 in the sixth, and 1 in the seventh.
Six Cougar pitchers took the mound on Saturday. Kyler Shiflett was the only one to allow no runs.
Offensively, Brandon Stevens went 2-for-4 and Kyle Guara hit two singles in 5 at-bats. Luke Lubiniecki hit a triple in the third inning, but could not be driven in.
Taft will host Fresno on Tuesday for game one of the series at 2:00 pm.
