Taft vs Cerro Coso

On Tuesday, Taft College hosted Cerro Coso College, of Ridgecrest for game two of a three game series. Mark O'Connor took the bump and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned on 3 strikeouts and 2 walks. Tait Ludwick came out of the bullpen and threw 2.1 dominant innings. Ludwick gave up just one run on an error by the right fielder. Seth Sorensen pitched the last 1.1 innings to allow just one hit and no runs.

Once again, the Cougars pitched well, but could not capture enough runs for the win. Taft managed 5 hits.

The Cougars still had a solid opportunity to win the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. Dominic Tating singled, Nick Kawano walked, then Luke Lubiniecki singled to load the bases. Brendan Halstrom hit a ground ball to the shortstop for a double play to end the game.

The Cougars will travel to Ridgecrest, on Saturday for game three of the series.
