On Thursday, Taft hosted College of the Sequoias for game 2 of the 3 game series. The Cougars managed 8 hits, and had plenty of opportunity to score in the early innings, however the big 4-run 7th inning allowed them to grab the victory.

Dominic Tating hit a deep fly ball with the bases loaded and no out to allow Dayton Wilson to tag up and score from third base. Brendan Halstrom tied the game at 3 when he hit a line drive, 2 out single to score Jayce Gardner and Nick Kawano. Then, with runners on 1st and 3rd, Travis Turner triggered a balk with an early break to advance to second while Brendan Halstrom scored, giving the Cougars the late lead.

Mark O' Connor got the start on the mound, tossing 5 innings and allowing only 1 run on 2 hits.

Will Moore got the win tossing the 7th inning and allowing no runs. Chase Nistor got a 2 inning save, allowing no runs on just 1 hit with 1 strikeout.

Jayce Gardner led the Cougars at the plate. He smacked 2 singles and 1 double in 4 at-bats, while scoring a run. Nick Kawano went 2-for-5. Luke Lubiniecki and Dayton Wilson each went 1-for-3.

Game 3 of the series will be on the road in Visalia on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
