Taft hosted a double header on Saturday against Southern California contender, Oxnard College in game one. The Cougars fell by the score of 5-4. Oxnard struck early on Cougar defense; scoring 3 runs on 3 errors in the top of the first inning. However, TC responded in the same inning, scoring 3 runs of their own when Nick Kawano scored on a wild pitch, and Richard Ortiz hit a 2 run home run with Dominic Tating on first base.

Cougar starter Chase Nistor recovered well, tossing into the sixth inning, and allowing just 2 earned runs on 8 hits. He threw a total of 5.1 innings.

Oxnard College scored 2 more runs in the sixth, and Taft responded with just 1 when Nash Franko hit a deep fly ball allowing Luke Lubiniecki to tag up and score from third base.

Seth Sorensen pitched 1.2 innings out of the bullpen and allowed no hits and no runs on 1 strikeout.
