Taft vs Delta

By Kaivon Kealoha

Taft College suffered an 8-0 loss on Monday to the number 1 ranked, San Joaquin Delta College Mustangs. Delta's first run was off an error by Taft's third baseman, Delta's base runner tried to steal third base on an early break and Taft's pitcher, Mark O'Connor's perfect throw to third skipped away, allowing the run to score. Taft's third baseman made a total of 3 defensive miscues, and Delta's offensive production started to come in after those miscues.

Taft's starter Mark O'Connor tossed 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits, 2 strikeouts and 2 home runs. Aaron Page tossed the sixth inning to get out of a bases loaded, no out jam without surrendering a run. Tait Ludwick pitched the seventh inning allowing 2 solo home runs then striking out the side. Will Moore pitched the eighth and ninth innings allowing no runs on 1 hit while striking out 4.

Offensively, Taft produced no runs on 3 hits.

Taft will look to bounce back when they travel to LA Mission College of Sylmar on Wednesday February 22 for a 2:00 pm game.
