On Saturday, the Cougars dropped the second game at Monterey Peninsula College. Tyson Canfield took the mound coming off 7 solid innings pitched from previous outings, and gave up 4 runs on 6 hits with 1 walk. Brett Haney pitched innings 3-5 and gave up no runs on just 1 hit while striking out 2. Then 7 more runs were given up by a total of 6 Cougar pitchers throughout the last 3 innings.
All 11 runs were earned for Monterey.
The Cougar bats managed 3 runs on 5 hits. Brendan Halstrom, Travis Turner, Fabian Gutierrez, and Luke Lubiniecki all collected singles, and Ricky Sottile hit a double while Gutierrez, and Kaivon Kealoha had 1 RBI a piece.
The Cougars have 2 more games on the road against West LA on Tuesday, and Victor Valley on Saturday before beginning conference play at Merced on Tuesday February 23rd.
