On Saturday, Taft wrapped up their pre-conference tune up with a convincing 16-0 win on the road against Victor Valley College.
The Cougars collected a total of 15 earned runs on 18 hits with catcher Brendan Halstrom leading the way going 4-for-4 at the plate with 3 doubles, a triple, and 6 RBI's.
Fabian Gutierrez and Richard Ortiz each collected 2 singles and 1 double while Ricky Sottile and Travis Turner went 2-for-4 with singles.
Seth Sorensen took the mound throwing 3 shutout innings with no hits and Will Moore got the win pitching innings 4 and 5 giving up no runs on 2 hits. An additional 4 Cougar pitchers got work out of the bullpen to preserve the shutout in the later innings.
The Cougars are now 4-4 heading into CVC action Tuesday, February 3rd at Merced College.
