On December 9th, Lori Travis, our communications instructor, arranged for a group of our student-athletes to tour the KBAK Channel 29 news station.

When they arrived, they were greeted by Rachelle Murcia and Stacy Rasmussen who are the evening news anchors. They shared their educational background and told the students how they got the job that they have today. "It was really nice to hear about what steps I need to take to become a news anchor. Those ladies were so sweet and very informative," said Alyssandra Gonzales.

The students then got the opportunity to speak with the sports broadcaster Greg Kerr. He also told them about his education history, and he explained to the students that he took a job in Montana just to begin his experience. He expressed the importance of internships and let the students know that is how you can get your foot in the door in this industry.

Towards the end of the tour the students were able to watch the 5 o'clock news live right in front of them. "It's crazy to see all of the behind the scenes that takes place when producing the news" said Ebubechukuwu Ekpemoju.

What a great opportunity this was for our student-athletes and communications majors.
