When the Taft College women’s volleyball team hits the court for an unprecedented spring 2021 season, head coach Kanoe Bandy looks to lean heavily on libero Janae Niutupuivaha, one of just two returning sophomores, to help guide her squad.

“Janae is holding steady in the position of libero,” said Bandy. “She will bring some experience to the team and will lead by example.”

As a freshman during the fall 2019 season, Niutupuivaha saw action in 25 of 28 matches for the Cougars and ranked fourth on the team with 133 digs.

Niutupuivaha is one of six members of volleyball team that hails from the islands of Hawaii and came to Taft out of Kahuku High School. According to Bandy, she is on track to graduate this May from TC and should transfer on to a four-year college.
